Use of position In production BOM.

Hi ,

What is the use of the fields Position , Position 1 , position 2 , in Production Bom .
Could anybody elaborate with a good example to understand easily.

    In a complex assembly BOM in the electronics industry there are 100's of component parts. On the Build drawing these are created with a legend and a position to enable the person reading the drawing to easily see the position of the component in the final build. As a component can be used in multiple places it maybe in one position. It is for this kind of functionality that the position field is used - reference back to a complex assembly drawing. Or for whatever other use you want to put it to, in one instance I have created an XML feed from the BOM file for another system, and this position field is used to indicate the order the BOM should be presented in the other system.
