is it possible to attch the documents to purchase order / sales order .

    Yes through document handling. It is an icon on the toolbar assuming you have activated it and configured it.

    1. Have you configured and setup document management?
    2. Are you using the document management icon on the toolbar.

    If the document management toolbar is greyed out you have not done 1. :D
