Negative Invoice

Sometimes we put negative quantities on invoices to record returns and reshipments of an item. Sometimes the net amount is a negative amount. I can not post because the posting routine, Code Unit 11, checks for a positive amount.
How can I get around this? Why must it check to see that an AR invoice is a positive amount?

A negative Invoice is a Credit-Memo.
Use report 292 to convert your invoice in a credit-memo

We have a similar issue as bhogan.
We would like to have an invoice amount show up positive in the vendor ledger to reflect returns. We are trying to use the purchase/payment journal with document type of invoice and balance account of vendor. We would like the end result to show a positive amount so that the client can filter on invoice and track what happened with this specific invoice.
What is the system impact if the code in codeunit 11 is commented
out that edits this condition. After an initial test it appears to post correctly. But, we are sure there has to be some reason the edit was put in place.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. We have tried this with a blank document type, and that works, but would like to use document type of invoice.0
