Undoing a cost-calculated Production Order

Just wanna knowif some of you have encountered clients who request "undoing a cost-calculated Production Order".
The case is in AX4.0/2009, you can undo a Production Order step by step or revert it all to its beginning state.
But once the order is "ended", i.e. cost-calculated, you just can't undo it. AX doesn't allow it.
Recently one of my clients is requesting such a function.
Their reasoning is they sometimes have to modify the RAF quantity after the Production Order is cost-calculated.
In their operation, variances in RAF quantity are difficult to decide during production, so it's easy to make mistake.
They used to adjust the qtys with Movement Journal but standard reports do not reflect them.
Well, I am not really asking for a solution for this case (I admit that the user and our acting consultants bear the responsibility somehow).
I just wanna know if you have encountered such a scenario and how did you escape with it? ](*,)
Thanks a lot.
Ronnie

The routine here is very complex, it individually removes every WIP line, and there can be many, and then it reposts the appropriately and defines the final cost. I would guess that this would be a lengthy, problematic modification to do.
I impress on the users the need to know ALL the costs prior to ending it. A business process is put in place so that only orders where every cost is known is ended, there is always a delay and the only real concern is from accounts at month end, but this is better than having the costs wrong. Simply put if the costs are unknown do not end it, if you have a mistake you will have to live with it, if you have regular mistakes look at the process. The art of teaching is clarity and the art of learning is to listen0 -
Yes. As you would have expected, Microsoft gave me the same answer.
Technically I think it's non-tryable... just happened that for some political reaons I had to research on that..
I heard from ex-SAP guys that SAP allows undoing a costed ProdOrd. Would like to know how they program it..0 -
It is a different system that will calculate everything differently, the WIP posting the closing posting, the staged material and resource posting, all done differently, and they may have enabled a reversal of this, but in AX it is not possible as standard. The art of teaching is clarity and the art of learning is to listen0
