Hi all,
it is possible to insert a record into Navision directly from SQL query?
I've created a linked server for my Navision 5.0 sp1 trought SQL Server 2005, I can read data without problem, but when I'm trying to insert a record
insert into OPENQUERY(NAVISION_DB, 'SELECT ID FROM "TEST LS"') values ('20')
I receive this error:
Msg 7392, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot start a transaction for OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "NAVISION_DB".

While it is technically possible to insert data directly from SQL, it is not the advised or supported method. There are no bugs - only undocumented features.0

Is your Navision Server the Native Database Server or a SQL Server?
But note. I would never insert Datas into "hot" tables, because the NAV buisiness logic is not run when you insert records from 3-rd Apps.
Better, fill a "Work Table" and let the datas there process by NAS (for example create customers, Orders, etc.)
RegardsDo you make it right, it works too!0 -
I've Navision Native DB.0
