Amount in Sales Invoice

I'm trying to get the field "Amount" to give me the running or invoice total of a sales invoice as we ad items to the invoice. Only when I put the sales in "Release" I see the amount is updated.
Is there a way I can just see the running total on the sales invoice form before posting?

You can push F9 to get the order statistics.
