DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF A GOOD APPLICATION OR ANY DEVELOPMENT FOR CREATING REPORTS OR ADVANCED ANALYSIS FROM NAVISION.

I AM CURRENTLY USING THE ODBC DRIVER TO CREATE EXCEL QUERY REPORTS BUT THIS IS A SLOW PROCESS AND THE ODBC DRIVER SEEMS VERY UNSTABLE.

I HAVE HEARD VARIOUS OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE BUT WONDERED IF ANY OF YOU KNEW OF OTHERS OR HAD EXPERIENCE OF SUCH THINGS AS EUREKA FROM COMPUTER ASSOCIATES, STATSEXPLORER FROM GESWAY.

I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT NAVISION ARE BRINGING OUT THEIR OWN ANALYSIS TOOL AT THE END OF THIS MONTH, DOES ANYONE HAVE FURTHER DETAILS?

In 99% of the cases the best developement tool for creating Navision Reports is the report designer integrated in Navision.

If a printout is not enough I recommend creating an excel worksheet from within Navision using automation.

The third option is Crystal reports 8.0

In the USA (and maybe in the rest of the world), Navision has a product called Financial Analyst, which is designed to link your Navision database to Excel.

And, as Marcus mentioned, Navision has its own report writer. However, to customize these reports, an end user would have to get a report writing license. This costs money, and you would have to train your key personnel to use the report writer. You would also have to choose your solution center carefully, because you can't call up Atlanta (or Toronto, or wherever) for tech support: you must call up your NSC.

If you don't want to get the report writer, you can have your NSC write reports for you and/or you can learn to use the Account Schedule area of Navision (which I believe is one of the granules every site has to purchase.) This is basically a set of two tables: one for the rows (with G/L Accounts or ranges of G/L Accounts), one for the columns (usually a time period such as Year-To-Date, Previous Year, etc.)
