Hi all!
Even though I already "blogged" about my little book, I would like to boldly announce it here, as well:
I published a little booklet named "The NAV/SQL Performance Field Guide" which should be availabel by now; e.g. via Amazon, etc.
http://www.amazon.de/Performance-Guide-Trouble-Microsoft%C2%AE-Dynamics/dp/3837014428/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1197564359&sr=1-1
2. Edition (Version 2.02)
ISBN: 978-3-8370-1442-6
136 Pages (Paperback, English, b/w), 15,90 EUR
Printed & Published by "Books on Demand"
I'm really looking forward to getting your feedback! Thank you in advance!
I hope Admin is not considering this as a sort of bold advertisement

When I do search for the book on amazon.com in the US I can't seem to find it.
If I purchase the book from the .de site will it be in English?0 -
Yes it is in an good articulate german english ;-)Do you make it right, it works too!0
-
Well, I got some feedback from natively British and American English speaking people ... they told me the language is quite OK, easy to read and to understand - way better than "German English" (Denglish) you would expect

Anyway, even though this book could be shipped to any location, it's somewhat problematic to find an English speaking website to order it. Here a link:

Hello Jörg,
Do you know of a North American Reseller?
I am very interested in this book but there is no way I can navigate through Amazon.de and it seems that msdynamicsbooks.com only ships within Europe.
Thank you,
headley270 -
Hi!
Hmm ... seems you're right, I'll ask Rene (he runs MSDynamicsBooks.com) if it is possible to ship outside Europe, too.
I don't know a special NA reseller, but actually every book store should be able to order it via its ISBN: 978-3-8370-1442-6
I'll come back on this - hang on ...Jörg A. Stryk (MVP - Dynamics NAV)

Well I got mine, and I must say its great. The price is so silly that, everyone working on NAV should get one.
The English is very good, so no worries there. Basically the book is all the stuff you should know already, but all in one place and well organized. This is exactly as it says, a field guide, the thing you have with you when you go on site o install or fix.
Great work Jörg.David Singleton0 -
Thanks Jörg.
I contacted someone that speaks German and they ordered it for me off of the Amazon.de site, so I am now waiting patiently for it to arrive. \:D/
.....but if msdynamicsbooks.com ships to the Canada and the U.S. I'm sure there are a lot of users who would buy it. I know that I'm going to let a couple people know about it.
Judging by the table of contents alone I am sure it will be a winner and will probably be the best $25 CAD I'll spend all year.
Side note:
So, now I am sure after reading your Field Guide I will be a SQL Maintenance Guru (lol).
But in the meantime perhaps you might be able to take a quick look at http://www.mibuso.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24454 and provide some very quick advice (if you say delete, I will...if you say don't, I won't).
Thanks again, I'm really looking forward to reading your book.

When it's up to SIFT Optimization, maybe you want to look into my BLOG: http://dynamicsuser.net/blogs/stryk/archive/2007/10/28/included-columns-vs-sift-tables.aspx
Hope this helps you a little!

I just got a reply from http://www.MSDynamicsBooks.com :!:
They will update their website within the next couple of days so that oversea-customers could create an account for ordering.
If your country is not listed, then please give me a notice, I'll forward it to them!

Hi Jörg,
I just got my copy from amazon.de.
Great Job. This book is AWESOME!!!! =D>
Thanks again,
headley270 -
I'm thinking about buying it but does this book tell that what other sources don't: of the many ways to optimize NAV which are the ones that tend to provide the most spectacular results in the most annoying problems in the most usual cases ( most annoying = blocks during posting orders, usual = uncustomized system with sales, warehouse and production, two dimensions)?0

Maybe you want to take a look at this preview: http://www.amazon.de/gp/reader/3837014428/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link

Any prospects of a USA distributor like Amazon?David Machanick
http://mibuso.com/blogs/davidmachanick/0 -
I don't know - this is managed by "Books on Demand" only ...davmac1 wrote:Any prospects of a USA distributor like Amazon?
For international orders I recommend MSDynamicsBooks.com: http://msdynamicsbooks.com/product_info.php?products_id=130&language=en&osCsid=c43beba9c2b0f50dffa2e1a65db49539
They ship anywhere, if your country is not listed, yet, just send them a notice and they'll add it!
The "annoying" thing is, that distributors like Amazon.DE would ship anywhere, but unfortunately their site is in German only ](*,)
Sorry about any inconvenience.Jörg A. Stryk (MVP - Dynamics NAV)

I tried to buy your book thru MSDYNAMICS, but I think paypal rejected my credit card, but I don't know why since its site was not in English.
I did not see any email support at that site. Do you know any live human beings there who could check on my order and get back to me?David Machanick

I think the problem is Paypal was passed the wrong info - it thinks I am in Austria and have a different name and phone number from what I entered in MSDYNAMICS.
I thought Europe was on the same level as USA web commerce sites.
Anyway if you know someone there, please have them email at dmach@simcrest.comDavid Machanick

OK thanks.
If this route fails, I will try Amazon in Europe - someone in Canada referenced amazon.de.David Machanick

The way us "foreigners" need to handle it is thru a money order via Paypal with the recipient being rgayer@mbs-training.com

After creating an account in MSDynamicsBooks, turned out they do not of Singapore :-(
Finally ordered off amazon.de. Google Translate and cut/paste is doable.

But again: If you send a notice to MSDynamicsBooks.com (http://msdynamicsbooks.com/contact_us.php?osCsid=c43beba9c2b0f50dffa2e1a65db49539) and ask them if they could add your country to the list they'll probably do it!
