We are trying to take advantage of the web users in Navision, but are unsure how to go about setting them up. Does anyone have any information about how to use or what is required?

thanks in advance,
Nicole

    Hi,

Web Users are only usefull for the User Portal application.
And because of the fact that User Portal will no longer be supported in the following versions of Navision Attain there is no real use for the Web Users.

Do we know if anything is going to replace the web users? They seem to be much more cost efficient for casual users - why is MBS not going to support the user portal?

I don't know if MBS found a new destination for the Web Users at this moment.

In regard to your question about the User Portal support I can say that the support is terminated because of the difficulty of expanding, modifying and customizing the User Portal Application.

Setting up the Demo application isn't that easy on its own.

I got the Information from MBS Belgium.

A month ago we were in the middle of a discussion with a client of ours in regard of the possibilities of User Portal.
We asked for more information from MBS Belgium and received a reply that we were allowed to sell User Portal in Belgium BUT they told us that they will not supported it because of the fact that is not easy to customize and with the User Portal it would be possible to create a new interface for Navision and bypass the Navision License. They also mentioned that is would be possible that in the near future Commerce Portal and User Portal would merge into 1 product. But I haven't heard anything about this after that.

But please contact the MBS of your country to be sure, it maybe only a Belgium view point.

If my previous remarks where to explicit then I apologize for this.

    Greetings

User Portal is no longer supported (i think it was scrapped in version 4.00).

It has been replaced with the Employee Portal, which is supported in version 5.00.
