Difference Value Entries, ILE

Hi Mibuso users,

I have a question regarding value entries, as I am going over manuals.

1) What are value entries? What are they used for?
2) Do ILE's and Value entries need to match? i.e. quantity.

My Answers (but not sure)
As answer to Q1, I think it is the cost of the items. A record of costs.

As for Q2, I assume that there is a problem if ILE's and Value Entriesbdo not match.

Am I right?

    It is obvious that it is related.
    A value entry MUST have a corresponding ILE.

    The ILE's are used for the quantities of the items.
    The Value Entries are used for the amounts of its ILE.

    E.g.
    If you sell an item from an ILE BEFORE the purchase invoice is posted, the ILE for the sale has an expected value. Later this gets the real value.
    When you do a recalculation, other Value entries can be created.
    With the Value Entries, it is possible to know the value of an ILE at each moment in time. Until version 2.60, this was not possible because there were no Value Entries and the ILE contained ONLY the latest calculated cost.
