Upgrade of Entrepeneur

I've downloaded the Entrepeneur solution (German version)
First of all. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Microsoft.
Verry nice user friendly version. Evene the setup of a new database with RIM included works verry fine and fast.
I know that this could be licensed for 50 users (5 concurrent).
If a customer wants tu upgrade to the Normal Navision 5.0.
* Can it be done?
* How to change the license becaus I heard that we as MBS Partners cannot get the license from Microsoft but via a SPLA Partner?
* Since Entrepeneur has different structure of tables. (Look also at the user specific definable fields) how will this be updated to the 5.0 version?
At last another question which should be in another topic.
Can I add for the customer another dataport, table, report with my license where the customer should update ahis license to use this modification?

Yes, you can upgrade to 5.0 (Entrepreneur 2008 = NAV 5.0 + added functionality).
Through your partner. You get a NAV license + you are allowed to the entrepreneur objects, forms, reports)
It's in the standard NAV license + in your new license.
Yes, but it's not supported.0 -
I'm not sure how this works.
Wer are MBS Partner but these licenses we have to purchase via a spla partner, where we purchase these direct by Microsoft.
Also I see Problems to upgrade to Normal NAV 5 without an upgrade tool since tables, forms etc. are totally different.0 -
The good news is that the tables are not totally different from NAV.
Like ajhvdb said, upgrade from Entrepreneur to NAV will add the NAV granules to the license, together with the already existing Entrepreneur granule. This will give the customer the opportunity to stick to the Entrepreneur functionality while having a NAV license. In this way the User Defined Fields will also work after upgrading.A good programmer makes al the right mistakes

I know about the license but imagine after a while the customer wants to upgrade because of concurrent users or even to use projects or the production module.
Can they easily upgrade but keep the current finance, sales, purchase data and also the personal fields?
I think that this needs to be transfeeered by a MBS Partner because in NAV 5 you don't have those peronal fields.
I hope there will be in Version 6 because I like it, also the way of orders etc. are created, listed etc.0 -
At this moment, only a license update is required to use it as NAV.0

But if you upgrade to Dynamcs NAV, you will lose those wonderful forms that are in entrepreneur version and they aren´t in Dynamics NAV, no?0

That's true.
My idea is that if your customer is going to upgrade to NAV in the near future, perhaps it's better to not use the Entrepreneur-objects and use the standard NAV 5.0 objects.
But maybe that's not allowed. :-k

I was told; you can use the Entrepreneur forms and free fields in NAV...For speed it's better you don't0

Any license that is upgraded from Entrepreneur to NAV has still access rights to the Entrepreneur forms.
So, if you stick to the Entrepreneur database you will have all the Entrepreneur functionality like the user interface and user defined fields. If an upgrade is done purely to extend the number of concurrent users then there is no problem to still use the Entrepreneur functionality.
However, if you upgrade an Entrepreneur license to NAV because you need more functionality (e.g. Manufacturing or Jobs), then it might become more difficult since standard NAV functionality that is not available in the Entrepreneur license has been removed from the Entrepreneur forms. This would cause the end user to go back to the standard NAV forms which are still available in the Entrepreneur database but lack the different user interface and user defined fields. The solution could be that the NAV partner extends the Entrepreneur forms with the needed functionality.A good programmer makes al the right mistakes

Thanks for the reply!
Very clear!

Should customers always start with an Entrepreneur-license? because that way they will receive 300 extra objects (the Entrepreneur-objects)when they upgrade to NAV?

I'm not sure if Microsoft actively promotes this, but as far as I know there is no reason why this is impossible.
There is already at least one MBS partner that I know of, that starts with an Entrepreneur license by default and then upgrades to standard NAV.A good programmer makes al the right mistakes
