Database Multiple Sessions

Hi All
I posted earlier a query regarding Multiple Sessions of same user in Nav. 3.6. In my observation I found that when there is a break in network signal the database is not refreshing the session or closing the session and creating a new session automatically. Ex. If the user id is "Michael" and IP is "192.168.1.12" I was pinging to the IP while working with navisioin, the speed of network is 1m average and at times the ping result shows Request timed out, when it occurs request times the database is creating a new session for Michael and not clearing the old session of Michael. As a result of this my licenses gets exhausted with 2 or 3 users and not allowing to login others.
What are your comments, any one experienced such problem. The network cannot be give continues signal always in case you are connected a far distance over a Radio. Kindly share your views and any possible solution.
Thanks & Regards

have you thought about using citrix or rdp.
there is a sql script in download section, that can delete idle session.0 -
1) Which server? Native or SQL?
2) Yes, RDP or Citrix is good for using NAV over long distances. NAV is created for stable Network connections which wireless isn't.
3) You can think about technical upgrade to 4.0SP3 which is able to "kill" sessions on Native server if you need that...0 -

Using Native Server
2) Yes, RDP or Citrix is good for using NAV over long distances. NAV is created for stable Network connections which wireless isn't.
Currently using using Microsoft Terminal Server
3) You can think about technical upgrade to 4.0SP3 which is able to "kill" sessions on Native server if you need that...
At present company have no plans to upgrade
In addition to my query, even if i shutdown the client the session will not be deleted until i restart the navision service in the server. How do i get technical details on Citrix.0 -
I don't understand one thing - if you are using Navision and Terminal Server, why due to break in network signal Navision session is killed? Or it is Terminal session that is killed?
For Terminal Server normally, if connection breaks, it leaves the session open until disconnect idle timeout reached. When connection is restored, it should automatically reconnect to the users previous session. If disconnect idle timeout is reached then it closes Navision in normal way and log-offs the user terminal session.

sorry if i am confusing..
At Head Office all the systems are connected to server over lan and the Branch office connected over Radio Link, so at branch office we connect to HO Navision server by Terminal Server.0 -
Problems is for Branch offices?
Terminal Server should not kill Navision and leave open sessions when connection lost. You should describe what exactly happens to terminal session and navisino client when connection breaks.
Try to play with terminal session idle timeouts and try to switch "one session for user only" on.0 -
Intrestingly the problem is not at Branch office, Most of the time session are repeating for the Head Office Users.
My Only Question is if There is a break in network signal does Navision create new session. Out of 100 attempts in the ping only once it shows Request times out, still this may cause the problem.0 -
Yes, it does. If connection between Navision native server and client breaks, session is left open. When client connects again, it creates new session and leaved old one open.
It's wierd there are network problems in LAN. You should correct that first0 -
Yes, check the network infrastructure, the problem is somewhere there... if you have connection lost on LAN, than something is wrong...0

You can also use this to kill sessions: http://www.mibuso.com/howtoinfo.asp?FileID=18. But you would need to do a technical upgrade.Regards,Alain Krikilion
