Import budget from Excel report - Excel error

Hi,

I have a customer who is running this report, and is getting the error: Could not envoke the member Open.

This error occurs normally when Excel is not installed, but they do have excel installed. However they are using office 2000, whereas the database is 4.0 SP3.

Do they need to upgrade their office to 2003 or later?

    Yes they need to get an updated excel, or you need to change the automation version to older version. It's worth a try. take a look at 3.7 version of db and find out what the automation it is and see that it works with 3.7 version and then try to convert the 4.x objects.

    I don't think the import routine uses any of new features of the automation.

    Thanks a bunch. I'll go with the 'find someone else in the office who has bought a new computer in the past 5 years to import this' approach and hopefully not change anything unless they really scream. I thought there was some version problem like this but wanted to make sure. When I heard Office 2000 I thought I might have issues.
