Corrupted database!!!

Hello! Some time ago I started procedure of database backup and recieved message, that I had Corrupted Database. I tried to restore my backup and Navision show the same error. The database test doest work. It crashes on GLEntries, Cust. Ledger Entries and Item LE. Now I even cant archive my base with WinZip and RAR, because on restore archivers exit with errors. So some functions and procedures work well and others - fails. What can I do now? Thanx i advance!

    Just to make sure!

    Have you tried making a backup form within navision? (It isn't quite clear in your post).

    If not then you should do so ASAP.

    If that can be done without errors then create a new empty database and restore the backup in that. Then do a full database test just to be on the safe side.

    Well.. that aint good. But you know that already!

    Normally if you can perform a backup from within navision using the Tools, Backup and then selecting Entire database you have a good chance of recovering from the error.

    But since that cannot be done then I would suggest that you create import/export dataports for all tables and then try and export everyting into text-files. If I remember correctly then there should be a tool somewhere here on mibuso.com that could help you do this. But otherwise it's pretty easy to do yourself (but still a big job). Just check which tables actually contain data and then export these data into seperate text-files that you can import in a new database. Remeber to export/import all objects as well of course.

    Now when you export the data you will end up with an error message when the corrupted part of the database is encountered. If you are lucky there will only be a few Entries in the tables that create problems and when you encounter these problems you must try to re-create the data manually in the new database. When you identify which records are corrupted in the tables then you must make it so your dataports do not try to export these entries. Otherwise the export will stop with the error message.

    Thanx a lot, Its hard way, but the only way as I see. I ll Write dataports -it is not a trouble. Current database size - 10 Gb - so It takes me long to export and import all date. But I have no choice. I wanna ask you one more question if U dont mind. Should i export FlowFields in texty files???

    Nope. There is no reason whatsoever to export flowfields. Won't do you any good anyway seeing as flow-fields don't actually contain any data.

    Do you use Navision SQL option?
    If you do, you can try to backup your database using Enterprize Manager.

    Maybe you should start with tables with ZIP Codes or Post Codes.
    We had the same problem. One User had copied from Excel the ZIP
    Code in Attain. And with the Code there were same new Letters :-(

    Before you start exporting all the data into text files, have you tried the CDART database recovery tool?

    You can contact your local NTR/Microsoft Office to find out more about the tool.
