what is faster then using count?

I am in desperate need of better performance.

need avg arrive and departure from each destination

total := (rec1.count()+rec2.count())/2

could i perform better with reorganizing my key-order?

futhermore is the results printet in excel where the excelbuffer NOT is at temporary record. would anyone prefer to write directly to excel instead of creating sheet in the end

Are you on SQL?

Do you have a selective covering index for the filter? That will usualy improve the count statements drasticaly.

On Native you can create a sumindexfield for it.

I have created keys on the record and uses the SETCURRENTKEY in the order i retrieve data as I would do when im sorting i in SQL/EXCEL etc.

Selective means the field with the most different values as first field.

Covering means that all fields in the filter are in the index.

A count does not need an SETCURRENTKEY AFAIK
