Does table filters affect SQL Statement?

I wonder if predefined table filter (exp. set on Item Ledger Entry, say "Entry Type=Purchase") affect real SQL query? that is, system gets already filtered data from SQL or it gets everything and then filters them for user view?
I think It's important because of performance issue..

Yes, it will be in the filter.

Use client monitor to see how the trafic is between your client pc and SQL.

imho it is important to know what SQL statements NAV is producing for the code you are writing... . The client monitor is indeed the best way to get a picture on this.. .
