C/ODBC permission problem

tnt26tnt26 Member Posts: 10
Hi !

A couple of days ago there was a small problem with c/odbc connection, but Kine helped me to solve it.

The only problem the stuff works only under local mode (in tcp mode it says:'no permission'), and not in networking mode.

So each time I want to use the database by C/ODBC (luckilly only once a week) I have to make a copy of the original database.

Thank u all!

Did you check the permission for system object C/ODBC for the users? Are able users to connect to Server without problems? Can you connect through C/ODBC to server with some SUPER account?

just to be clear you do have granule 1,700 c/odbc in your license?

and you are definately using the same license when you connect the server as you do with the local connection?

    thanks

It seems, that problem is the permission for sys. object C/ODBC or as Savatage wrote, the licence...

    hi,

thank you for the answers !
I allowed the shared connections in the ODBC panel panel, but it's response is still: 08004 ... no permissions !

I have checked the FLF files, they contain the line:

    1,700 C/ODBC
    8-[

I think the problem is in the option tab of the C/ODBC driver. Try to modify those fields, for example taking away the value in the DBMS Cache. If you can´t get it to work ask someone for a screendump of this tab from a working connection to a server. Unfortunately I'm at home and have no one avaible here.

](*,) ejj ... this drives me mad ... I tried the nav. client on the server and it's just works fine with TCP mode ...

In ODBC if i choose bad password, of course it requires the un, pw again. When I type the good un,pw pair the 'no permissions' writening appears immedetly.

I can't believe that this would be such a difficult problem ! I tried it with all options ...

Sure I make sg. wrong, just don't know what ....

    Hi Kine !

    C/ODBC 3.70B (what's that B for?) !

It's not about my program(no program), I just simply can not make the connection in the ODBC panel in TCP mode! I can not choose the proper company but receive the message: no permissions instead ...

Was I expected to provide any further infomation ?? :?:

    thnx

so you can connect when it's local just not when it's network. this reminds me of a licensing issue I had so many years ago it's not fuly clear anymore.

are you doublely sure the license being used while local & Network are using the same License. when connecting to the server aren't you using the license on the database server not on your hard drive? :-k

It just seems like it's a simple option overlooked somewhere..

if you can see the company, then you are connecting and if you are really using a superuser account that would seem to be enuf....?!

    B is for ServicePack 2....

    Please, can you fill this?
      1) Data Source = 2) Description = 3) Program folder = 4) Connection = Local / Server 5) Server name = 6) Net type = 7) Database Name= 8 ) Company Name = 9) User ID = (only info if it is filled :-)) 10) Password = (only info if it is filled :-)) 11) Tmp Path ("Options" button...) =
I assume, that you have filled 1..6, 7 is empty, 9 and 10 are filled, and if you want fill 8 from list, you have the permission error... it is right?

Please, send us the settings (you can use modified values for server name etc.)

Please check if you are using Company field in User Roles setup... Yes/No

Without any info there is no answer... pls, write parameters set in ODBC source, user roles for the user under which you are connecting, if you have granule 1,700 c/odbc in your license file, to which server you are connecting (on another server, same as client)
