Hold Locations

Is there a way in Navision to use a location as a hold location? Our reseller and support desk cant seem to suggest a solution.

Basically if we have 1000 cases of an item in stock AND on order, but 400 of them are bad we move that 400 into a location we call 09.

The planning worksheet should IGNORE this location and suggest we need to make 400 more to fulfil the order. In turn the requisition worksheets should suggest buying the raw materials for these 400 cases.

Right now however we cant do this and the ordering system does not alert us to the need for raws or production time as it thinks we have the 1000 cases we need.

With STD Navision : no solution.

With some Customization : Yeep , possible.
    Solution 1.

    You have to :

    1. Define akind of "quarantine" location where you reclass "bad" items.
    2. On Item (and SKU) , redefine Inventory flowfield where you exclude "Quarantine location" from the filters.

    Solution 2 .
    1. On Item Ledger Entry, add a field (boolean or option) to specify if this move is made on a valid Item (like a small quality check).
    2. Adapt Inventory field on Item to take care of this flag

So, possible but some work to do ...

Thanks very much for the reply. It sounds like a lot of work but thankfully my colleague in the company hit on the solution! There is a way of doing this in Navision and its so easy it hurts!

Basically when running the planning tools you can filter on the location code!! In our case we just put in:

    <>09

And any stock existing in that location will be ignored by the plan! Therefore the system will now tell us to make the 400 cases again that are currently in the 09 location!
