Problem in Costing

ssinglassingla Member Posts: 2,973
Client is using Nav 3.7 and in a particular Finished Goods item due to oversight the client has made a positive adjustement with wrong cost (Higher Cost). This has resulted in erronous posting in GL and Value Entry. Further when the item hasbeen sold the COGS is wrong.

As the Client is not using Manufacturing Module all the output is booked by postive adjustment in Finished Goods and Negative Adjustment in Raw Materials and Consumables. Therefore the item has only entries of Positive adjustment, Sales and negative adjustment (Old goods discarded).

In order to rectify the problem the positive adjustment was revalued and I was hoping that the COGS will also get updated on running the adjust cost batch job but I was  to see that it does not happen.

The client is using Average Costing.

Any suggestions by forum members to rectify the problem.

    A couple of questions:

    1. Did you run the adjust cost process afterwards?
    2. Were the dates of the positive/negative/sales entries the same date?

The batch job has been run afterwards. In a particular case the date of postive adjusment and negative adjustement/sale are same. But it is not updating the cost of negative adjustment/sale on other dates later then the date of positive adjustment.

when u revalued ur stock, only the cost of remaining qty was adjusted.
simple way to correct ur cost of sales, would be to process a g/l journal to transfer the adjustment cost to the cost of sales acc.

not the ideal but the easiest way to straighten things a bit given how navision works

Well I have been able to revalue the item by a procedure I am even ashamed of telling others. Basically this is not the right way to do the things but I was not having any other option.
As this is not a olution which one should use so I am not mentioning it here.
