Distributed Database

Dear Friends,

Our client want to run a distributed database because of some reason i.e they have 2 legal entities and they want different database for both the companies.
Our sales team says it is not allowed as per the rules of licence. I heard that with subsidary option in the licence we can have the same.

I think your sales is right. Granule 2020 comes near, but (I think) you need at least two different license files:

The Per Database License granule allows you to run several databases on the same instance of SQL Server. Each database uses its own license file. In order to have more than one database using different license files, those license files must contain this Per Database Granule.
Without this granule, all databases on the server that do not use their own license files, use one common license file.

I think you have to buy a second licence, however Microsoft would likely cut a deal, think of retail where you have installations of 10-500 sites each with a database, get your sales to talk to them is the first step.
