Hi mibuso community, recently I got stumped by this issue and wanted to know if anyone here has an idea:

Some forms have a flowfield that sums up "Item Ledger Entries" excluding all drop shipment to show the inventory of an item.
Seems right, since dropshipments should always have a purchase and a sale that sum up to 0.

Now we have an item that shows an inventory of 100 in those forms and 0 on the Item Card.
Looking at the item ledger entries I found that some years back someone managed to cancel a purchase shipment belonging to a drop shipment without affecting the corresponding sale.

So the drop shipment "inventory" has an incorrect value of -100.

How do I post a item ledger entry that negates the -100 and also has the drop shipment checkmark?

Problem facing during Nav to Nav Data Migration

Hello Everyone,

I’m currently working on a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 to NAV 2016 data migration project, and I’m facing a challenge where I’d really appreciate some guidance from people who have handled similar cases.

In my scenario, the source system is NAV 2016 and it contains many years of historical data, while the target is a fresh NAV 2016 environment. The requirement is to migrate data only from a specific cutoff date, i.e., 1st April 2025 onwards.

The problem I’m facing is that the source database is quite large, but I don’t want to move all the old data. I only need data from 01-Apr-2025 onwards, and that too including all standard tables as well as custom tables and fields (since there are customizations in the system). Though i have already exported the Objects from the NAV Environment such as Tables, Pages, reports, XML Ports, Query, Codeunit. So now the fields and all are been done but there is no Data in the other Database.

At the same time, data integrity is very important, so I need to make sure relationships are maintained properly (like ledger entries, posted documents, etc.). I can’t break any links between data just because I’m filtering by date.

The reason for doing this is that the current system has become slow and heavy to work with — even simple operations like searching, creating entries, or modifying data are taking more time due to the large volume of unnecessary historical data.

Challenges I’m facing:

• How to filter data based on date without breaking dependencies

• Handling ledger tables (G/L Entry, Item Ledger, Value Entry, etc.) where data is interconnected

• Migrating custom tables and fields along with standard data

• Standard tools like RapidStart don’t seem sufficient for this kind of partial migration

• Not sure whether to go with SQL scripts, NAV objects/codeunits, or any third-party tools

• How to take the Data from the current existing Database to the another which is blank

What I’m looking for:

• Best approach for doing date-based partial data migration in NAV 2016

• How to safely handle dependencies and linked records

• Any tools, scripts, or approach that has worked in real projects

• Things to be careful about (common mistakes or risks)

• I really wish you know that is there any solution that can be performed for the migration by the SQL To SQL

• Also how can I migrator all the data such as Customer, Vendor, G/L Entry, COA, Items and all other required and remaining data from the current Database to the New Database

If anyone has worked on a similar requirement, please share your approach or suggestions. It would really help me move in the right direction.

Cannot Receive Transfer Order Problem

Dear Experts,

The Transfer Order is fully shipped but one of the item A can only be partially received.
When I post to receive the item, a warning message popped up :
“Lot No. is required for Item A.”

Thus, I open the Item Tracking Line window.
The NAV5.0 system do not allow me to type in Lot no. and Quantity(Base).

And I find the item A is in In-Tran.
How come the item cannot be recived?
What is wrong when I process the TO?
The problem often comes out.

What can I do to enable me to receive the TO??
Please kindly advice me.

Nav 5.0 SP1 - Not saving last open Company in File menu

We have installed NAV 5.0 SPI on a new server, and on that server it does not save the last open Company like it did on the old server. See picture.

The SQL server is the same, and ZUP files seems to be saved correctly.
Is there a setting some where that enables this ?

Hi All,

I have following Problem:

1) When I calculate subcontracting Worksheet for Subcontracting Requirement then "Qty Per unit of Measure" field is zero for All Subcontracting Requisition Line.
2) Creating Subcontracting Order from Subcontracting Worksheet then Subcontracting Order Line -> "Qty Per Unit of Measure" field has value zero.

I want to put value in "Qty Per Unit Of Meaisre based on Unit of Measure in Subcontracting Order Line.
Should I do that ? I have seen code but I donot get purpose of making zero to "Qty Per unit of Measure" field.

Please Guide me regarding this issue.

BC14 Word Layout – How to Hide Empty XML-Mapped Fields?

I’m working on a Word layout in Business Central 14 that uses XML-mapped content controls (from the dataset). I have a field like EinsatzortBeschreibungLineTextWord, and I want to hide it if it’s empty so that no blank lines or labels appear in the document.

I tried using an IF field like this:

"{ IF "«EinsatzortBeschreibungLineTextWord»" = "" "" "«EinsatzortBeschreibungLineTextWord»" }"

…but it always prints nothing, even when the field has data.

What’s the correct way to conditionally show a mapped content control in Word layouts?

Do I need to use bookmarks and REF fields?
Or is there a better approach for BC14?

Any tips or examples would be greatly appreciated!

Hi friends...

I need help to find a solution with an issue.... I need to call a Nav webservice from a Nav codeunit... I have searched in many posts on internet but I don't find what I'm really looking for.

Let me to explain:

I have published a Nav codeunit as webservice. It is supposed to be call from external source (this is OK)

When I receive the petition to my webservice, my codeunit will check the information received in the XML and depending of some parameters I want to "resend" the XML to another NAV webservice but in other Database to manage the information and process it.

So basically I hace a Central Database who is going to receive the request from external source and this Central Database will dispatch the information to one Database or other depending of one parameter value.

I don't know how to do it with C/AL code... I mean to resend the XML received to the final Nav Webservice

Don't laugh at the following pseudocode, it's a dummy draft

Is it possible to do using only C/AL Code ? What is the easiest way?

Nav 2016 Client Edit Freezes on Open

Hi all,
I've encountered a weird issue that I'm having trouble resolving and any insights or tips would be useful.
Somewhat recently (I'm unaware of the exact period) we've started experiencing issues whilst using Nav 2016, the issue occurs when navigating from the Customer List into a single customer. What ends up happening is that the window that would contain more information opens however none of the information is shown and the window ends up in a freeze state (loading) where any interaction with the window will result in messages about it not responding.
I've checked the Event Viewer for what could be going on here and have gotten the following error: Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Client.SocialListening;PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35
I've tried following some of the posts I've found online in regards to the issue but the ones I've found were having the same error however for entirely different things.
Whilst my knowledge of Nav 2016 I've checked if SocialListning files were present, they seem to be, I've tried disabling it in Add-Ins but then no error shows up whilst the issue is still near identical (still frozen) and a few other minor things.
Any help would be appreciated!

I am trying to login with windows auth in sql server 2000 with nav 4.0 sp1 in an existing database and server that a few minutes ago used to work and I get the message "A 'S' was expected here." and returns to the database connection dialog...

Users already connected in the database and server work ok, but if they close the application and open it again, then it doesn't open!

Has anyone seen that before?!?

LS Retail Statement Closing Issue - Unposted Transaction

Dear LS Retail Experts,

My client is running POS in offline mode. Transactions are generated in POS, replicated to HO, Statement is calculated & posted at HO & Item ledger entries are replicated to POS.

There are transactions which are not posted by Statement and remain as unposted in "Transaction Header" & "Trans. Sales Entry Status". It results as "Qty. Sold not Posted" in Item card & ultimately reflect as wrong inventory in POS.

Problem Scenario:
POS performs transactions & generates Z report (Declare Tender Closing) at end of day. Some time, they perform transactions even after closing Z report. When User calculates Statement in HO, he gets cash difference between Z Report & Statement but it is adjusted manually. Problem is when Statement is posted, entries(which were performed after Z report closing) are not posted & not converted into Item Ledger entries. There are many branches of my client & it has become regular problem for them. Ultimately, overall inventory doesn't match with physical inventory.

Please let me know if anybody has faced same problem & workaround for same.

HI, we updated our website recently and since then the page is not dispalying correctly on our Tills when i use the Navigate Command.

When i changed the page I want to navigate to from our own site to Google i have to refresh the page on the till before Google opens.

This is leading me to believe there is a hard cache somewhere that i need to delete before the till will properly display Google ( or our own homepage)

Anyone have any ideas where it might be?

We are on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Version W1 13.3 on the tills.

I need some clariffication on Net invoiced qty in the item card and how it is releated to Adjust Cost item Entries. Today, I had an item having "NET INVOICED QTY" as -194. There were some Released production orders for that item. Then I have finished the production orders except for 10 Nos.i.e, I have 10 Nos available in Released production order. Tell me if i am wrong. After the producion order status are changed to finished production orders, the net invoiced qty should change by that qty. But even after changing the production order to finished status, there is no change in net invoiced qty.After the batch job is run, the unit cost is not updated. All the purchase invoices are posted.
I want to know where is the problem. We are using FIFO as the Costing method.

Freight, Item Charges and Expected Cost Posting

I'm working with Nav5.0 but this may apply to all versions that support expected cost posting and item charges.

A company bases their selling price on a markup from acquisition cost. Part of this cost is freight. In the past they have had trouble with using an overhead rate for freight because is varies widely by product. So as their product mix changes they have large variances between freight applied via overhead and actual freight charges.

So, item charges to the rescue right? Wrong! ](*,)

When items are received only the expected cost of the inventory is posted, not the item charge for the freight. So, in a situation where much of the inventory is turned each week, users are seeing a unit cost that does not include freight. They are then making bad selling decisions on that cost.

To complicate matters, the product cost for an item varies significantly from purchase to purchase so the idea of using a standard cost just doesn't work either...it's partly why the feight costs don't work as an overhead rate.

Has anyone out there had to deal with something like this? I've thought about looking at the value entries to see if a freight item charge has been posted - if not then add a freight estimate. But that gets tricky because some items are shipped to them delievered (includes freight) and some do not.

Of course the best way would be to have the item charge's expected cost to post when received but I've been told this will be nasty.

My employer wants to buy a book for me to help with learning the native functionality of NAV 2009 classic client. I've been looking at the book "Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Application Design" by Marije Brummel and I'm only looking at the preview's from Amazon/Google so I can only see a limited number of pages but at the start of chapter 1 there is a short paragraph:

"This book is not a manual for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. It should give a clear idea of how the structure of the application is laid out and about its possibilities. We do not want to replace or rewrite the Microsoft Documentation but rather want to provide ideas you might not have thought about."

I've looked at learn.microsoft.com but all the documentation is for more recent versions of NAV.

Is there a site that has the original documentation for NAV 2009?
What is the best resource for learning the functionality of native NAV 2009? Preferably it shows examples using the classic client.

Passing a Var to a Codeunit

I am trying to pass a page variable from the page onqueryclose to the codeunit. I am running the code unit from an action, in the codeunit I run

IF PAGE.RUNMODAL(50324,T50037) = ACTION::LookupOK THEN

Pretty much opens a page with an extra box to type in and I want to send whatever you type to the codeunit as a global to use. Message was just for testing. Not sure why but the var passes but the second the page closes the debugger shows the variable blank.

On validate and onqueryclose from the open page runs codeunit function to set the global for the codeunit.

NAV 2009 R2 - Classic Client - Adding Table Boxes On Reports?

I'll preface this with the fact that I have basically zero knowledge of NAV but I'm fluent in C#/SQL Server/SSRS/Power BI.

We are using NAV 2009 R2 (classic client) and we have a custom report that we use for generating Bills of Lading.

One issue with the report is that it is designed with many textboxes using hardcoded elements for multiple arrays. For example in the image, you can see "=" and it continues down until "=" and the process repeats for every column. This is an issue because some of our BOLs exceed 25 lines and the users have to run the report filtered for a specific line numbers and repeat the process until they have printed every line. It is error prone and the report isn't modular. Having to add new columns is a headache that involves lots of manual placement of textboxes.

Is there a way to replace these textboxes with something dynamic like a table? The "Table Box" button in the Toolbox is grayed out. Why is the "Table Box" grayed out?

I've tried searching the web but information is very difficult to find. Everything I've seen says it is possible to create table layouts for reports using Visual Studio 2008 for the Role Tailored Client but I haven't been able to find anything specific for the classic client.

Hi, I want to make a basic phone call using URL. Wether it opens the navigator or not doesn't matter.
The way I think could be possible is to call this type of URL :

When I type this in my navigator, it opens my default phone app, so this should work.
Problem is:

Cost Amount Actual (ACY) Remaining Balance

error comes up that the rcpt host is not in the allowed list of hosts :? . We think this happens with all "SMTP after POP3" servers ?? !! ??

My problem is, that when i run the code without a SLEEP, than it will create one document less than i print and the document that is created is one number bigger.

Example:
Sales Invoice 1001 -> is created as 1002
Sales Invoice 1002 -> is created as 1003
Sales Invoice 1003 is missing

Without SLEEP sometimes it does not create anything. Sometimes, when i try to change the setting (i still dont know which one makes des "different") in thew Bullzip Printer Settings as a User, it creates Files in the defined folder with the use of - - .pdf, but the docname is the name of report.
