E commerce options

Hi,

I am evaluating integration options between an asp.net e-commerce site & NAV 2009 (SQL). Could someone please suggest what could be options? I am looking for real time feed, both ways.

    We're using the tools of a German MBS partner here, called ITIS. They deliver an official Add-On called ITIS Activigence and ITIS Web Extensions.

    Besides the integration between NAV and Sharepoint + NAV and DotNetNuke (cms), you can also choose to connect to NAV using ASPX pages. You can add the front-end functionality in your own ASPX pages as far a I know. This deliver you with real-time integration using the Navision Application Server.

    But maybe it's better to use a CMS like DotNetNuke, because then you can benefit all kind of functionality and security which was already added to the CMS.

    We have tried to implement the above solution, and had horrible experience.
    They over-promissed and never delivered. We had to build a custom integration with another web site.

    Which one? Digital Vantage point? Or ITIS?

    To be fair, ALL integrations products have major success and failures. References must always be checked and if they can not provide you with at least 5 solid favorable references, move on. Also, go to their web page and speak with their software partners. Call them all because you are making a decision that could lead to a six digit project.

    If you are dealing with a foreign country, be prepared to deal with different time zones, accents and documentation that may not make much sense. Also, European intuitiveness is not at such a highly defined level as what the US market is use to.

    Most products are designed by developers and not customers so user friendliness may take a back seat to dealing with the complex issues.

    Also, in dealing with such products, understand that some are not open at all. All of the code could be complied in dll's and any changes, such as adding simple noticies (spinning gif's) or different levels may require the manufacturer to make those changes, at a premium price! $$$
    Then as a customer if you question why you have to pay extra for what should be "standard" in any solution, they will become very legalistic and say they never made any claim that the product was up to industry "standards".

    Don't forget training. If you are a NAV reseller and the manufacturer wants to charge you for training to learn their product, stay away. You are selling their product. The more success you have, the more they have. If they don't understand that concept, do you really want to deal with them?
