Is it necessary to add email for each customer in the document layouts for customer statements ?

I am working on NAV 2016. When I run customer statement report and select output option as email. Email is not sent but if I mention email address on the document layouts for a customer and then run report email is sent perfectly. So I want to ensure that is it necessary to mention email address on document layouts for customer statement.

    Yes that's correct. You need to specify the e-mail address that the docuement (in your case, Statement) needs to be sent to on the customer document layout.
