Data Exchange Framework or XML Port?

Hi,
I have several xml files from a client that periodically needs to be imported into NAV - all have different xml structure. The question is whether I should use the Data Exchange Framework or just some XML ports?
The Data exchange framework looks quite flexible, but I am a little unsure if it is "overkill" to go for such a solution when it should be possible to program a few xml ports that will do the same. If using the data exchange framework I would need to import the data to an intermediate table before importing to the destination table given the structure of data in the xml file.
So, basically I would like to ask if anyone has used the Data Exchange framework for importing xml files, and what your experience is with that...
