Transferring filters to and from RecordRef

I have a form where SourceTable=Customer. On the form is a button with this OnPush trigger:

CurrForm.SETSELECTIONFILTER(Selected);
RecRef.GETTABLE(Selected);
MESSAGE('RecRef Count: %1',RecRef.COUNT);

This yields the expected result so the MARKEDONLY(TRUE) filter must be applied to RecRef. But I can't seem to find a way to copy the filter from RecRef to another Customer record, e.g. Result:

RecRef.SETTABLE(Result);

This doesn't seem to have any effect at all on Result.

Result.SETVIEW(RecRef.GETVIEW);

This works as long as I've only selected a single Customer on the form.

Do I really have to code a "manual" function to transfer the selection filter? A bit stupid since I have to code it for each and every table that I want to use this way...
